SMR’s first material recycling facility (MRF) was built in 2003 at the Claremont Terminal facility in Jersey City, NJ. The Claremont MRF is now one of the largest in the New York/New Jersey region. Curbside recyclables are brought in by truck and barge, and processed materials are exported via rail, ship and truck. The MRF accepts recyclables from commercial haulers, from the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) through its curbside collection program, as well as curbside recyclables from New Jersey municipalities.
